How long does it take to ship?

Most items are made to order. I do have some items in stock, but because of the color options, that makes it difficult to determine what is “ready to ship” and what is “made to order” so it is best to assume all items are made to order. All item descriptions will state how long it will take me to make each item. I work a normal 7-4 shift so a lot of my knotting happens either after work or over the weekend. I do my best to get them out the door as soon as possible and if that cannot happen, I will be quick to let you know because customer service is important to me. Most items are quick to make, but there are some (wreaths, fringe hangers, no-tassel hangers, etc.) that take time.

Can I customize my peice?

Almost all pieces are customizable within the dropdowns. I am quite flexible as this piece is meant to bring you joy in your home.

If there is a color you are wanting that you do not see in the dropdown, that means I do not have it in stock. In that case, please use the contact page to start a conversation. At that time, I may ask you to submit a custom piece request and I will have to order the color for you.

If you see a piece that says “main color is natural” but you really want the main color to be one of the others in the drop-down, send me a message or add an order note letting me know which other color you’d prefer.

Can you make this? I found it on Pinterest.

I can try! The pieces that I have listed are the ones that I most enjoy making so that I avoid burnout. However, I would love to make your piece for your home. Please send a contact me request on the contact me page so we can start a conversation about your inspiration. A commissioned piece is fun, but I won’t accept pieces that I know I personally do not have the time or skills for. That’s not fair to you as a customer and I personally will go bonkers trying to make something perfect that I know I can’t do, so let’s avoid that.

If it’s something I know I cannot make, I will send you to some other macrame small businesses that may be able to assist you.

If it is something I can accomplish I will send you over to the custom page in the shop to put down a deposit. Please keep in mind that depending on the size, time, and materials needed the price will be more than the deposit and will be owed before I ship.

Where is my order? It shows that it’s shipped.

All items are sent with a tracking number and can be followed there. Once the order is dropped at the post office, it is no longer within my responsibility as the post office can also make mistakes sometimes. If your order is lost, please let me know but you will have to work with them to figure out where it is.

I want to learn macrame. Do you make tutorials?

A lot of creators have tutorials on their Instagram and have YouTube channels to show how to do knots. I personally do not because I’m just not there yet as far as recording and such. It’s never been my strong suit, however, if you’re looking for someone, Modern Macrame has Knot With Me monthly tutorials and there are great YouTubers out there. I learned by watching videos and following creators on Instagram. Maybe one day I’ll figure it out, but for now, I’m working on Knotty Things Designs, LLC.

Where do you get your supplies? Are they eco-friendly and sustainable?

I am still researching better packing options to ensure every part of my shipping is sustainable.

My shipping boxes are recyclable and I encourage you to reuse them or recycle them. My custom tape is made from kraft paper that is recyclable.

The thank you and business cards are from Canva that are all made from Post-Consumer Waste. I’m quite impressed with their initiative with sustainability as of late and have re-ordered new cards that are using their eco-friendly paper and cardboard for their shipping. Check out their page here.

I order my rope from small women-owned businesses. Their shipping and packing are all sustainable and recyclable. All rope is 100% cotton and vetted by their company to ensure that it is ethically made. As soon as I am done with this inventory of rope, I plan to check out their new recycled rope. You can learn more about Modern Macrame’s initiative here.
